Over 100 migrants arrive off Cape Greco - Two navigators handcuffed

Last night, a second boat was brought to the port of Larnaca that was spotted off Cabo Greco, carrying 73 people, all from Syria.

A police source told KYPE that the vessel was spotted by the Republic's radars off Cape Greco and was approached by a Port and Maritime Police vessel early last night.

A total of 73 people from Syria were on board the boat and it was taken to the port of Larnaca.

Upon his arrival at the port, the competent Services of the Republic proceeded to record the details of the 73 passengers and then they were transferred to the "Pournara" First Reception Center in Kokkinotrimithia.

Early today, a minor was arrested as the alleged navigator of the boat.

Late last night, a 44-year-old man was arrested as the navigator of the boat which was carrying 37 irregular migrants, located off the coast of Cabo Greco and transported by vessels of the Port and Maritime Police to the port of Larnaca around seven in the evening.

The two arrested are expected to be brought before the Larnaca District Court today for the issuance of their detention orders.
