Intense controversy was created in the show "Mesimeri kai Kati" about the danger of the beach of Konnos in Protaras.

According to what the mayor of Paralimni, Theodoros Pyrillis, stated on the show, he stated that in the meeting that took place in 2015 with the Fire Brigade, the director of the Fire Brigade suggested alternative access to the area, in order to respond in case of fire or other serious incident.

He stressed that he is not talking only about vehicles, but accidents also occur in the area and at sea. He explained that the issue is not the road but the "alternative access". This space can be easily created, according to the mayor of Paralimni, without affecting the environment.

Speaking about the beach of Konnos, he said that in 1963 it was completely quarried and then vegetation developed, but until today there are points that have not been restored. At those points, he says, alternative access can be created. This was the proposal that was misinterpreted according to him and some considered that they would open roads for vehicles. The most important thing, he emphasizes, is to use the area from the world without any risk.

Alexia Sakadaki, Member of the Political Bureau of Ecologists, stressed that the situation in the area can be dangerous. What they disagree with the Mayor is the time period of his placement, a period in which there was a feeling of fear.

The Mayor, for his part, reacted by emphasizing that the issue arose when there was a discussion about helping the fire victims, while after the meeting, statements were made by the Metropolitan and himself and the relevant question was asked by a journalist and reactions erupted. In fact, he spoke about selectivity for what is published specifically for the municipality of Paralimni while talking about interests.

Then, after Alexia Sakadaki's reaction, she replied that she made some "false reports" while talking with examples about issues that did not come up. On the part of Ecologists, they accused the Mayor of Paralimni of trying to transfer the discussion elsewhere, with him explaining how the misunderstanding with the journalist arose.
Then Alexia Sakadaki said that they consider a better solution to close the passage of vehicles so that there is free access to visitors and fire trucks and ambulances.

When Alexia Sakadaki was asked about Theodoros Pyrillis' complaints about selectivity in the investigation of the complaints, she wondered what interests she was talking about, talking about "people close to them", while she talked about letters and emails he had sent them.

Then there was a controversy over the access of people with mobility problems to the beach of Konnos.
There was also a report in the event of a fire with a strong wind at the beginning of the road, with the mayor stating that whoever is there will be trapped but will be safe because the beach is large. But he wonders how a fire truck will get there.

Alexia Sakadaki responded based on the position of the Department of Forests, explaining why the fire in the area can not have a downward trend. However, according to the Mayor of Paralimni, the Fire Department disputes this.
