The Municipality of Famagusta requests that the name of the Famagusta Carnival that takes place in the province of Famagusta be changed!
In a statement issued by the Municipality of Famagusta, it notes that the terminology used should be changed and a clear distinction should be made between the Free Province of Famagusta and the Municipality of the occupied city of Famagusta while there is talk of exploiting the city of Famagusta from the events of Karna held in Paralimni.
It is noted that the Famagusta Carnival has been taking place in the homonymous province for the last 11 years with the participation of the entire free province of Famagusta, while in previous statements on the issue the Mayor of Paralimni, Theodoros Pyrillis, said that the local authorities of the province are ready Cyprus and the opening of the occupied city of Evagoras, to concede all the provincial events to the metropolis of the province, Famagusta.
It is noted that during the carnival parade on Sunday, the Municipality of Paralimni was presented with a chariot dedicated to the "Famagusta Queen".

Famagusta and the undefeated occupied Cyprus are not for carnivals and much more, we repeat, for the service of any interests. We are sorry that we are forced to speak in a strict tone in public, however, it seems that our performances in the background were perceived as a weakness. We consider unacceptable the attitude of the Municipality of Paralimni to name the carnival it organizes as "carnival Famagusta»Instead of" Paralimni Carnival ".
We assure the people of Famagusta everywhere that we will exhaust every opportunity for consultation with all the Municipalities of the (free) province Famagusta in order to co-decide with mutual respect (from the Diocese to the Municipalities and vice versa) the appropriate steps to normalize this negative atmosphere that creates trivial decisions.
