Oxygen leak occurred early this morning at the General Hospital of Famagusta.
According to information from Famagusta.News, the leak occurred around 5:40 today at dawn in the central tank of 3,2 tons that supplies the hospital with oxygen.
Three fire trucks from the Famagusta Fire Station responded.
The building was evacuated for precautionary reasons. The patients were transported to the main entrance of the building and kept with oxygen cylinders until the Fire Department was notified to repair the damage.
Members of the Fire Service proceeded to empty the tank, while according to the Executive Director General of the State Health Services Organization (OKYPY) for the provinces of Larnaca and Famagusta, today the surgeries and services that require oxygen will not work.
The tent remains closed while the Famagusta General Hospital will operate normally for visitors and patients have been transferred to the wards. According to the first indications, the leak is due to a mechanical failure.
More will be seen from the investigations of the Electromechanical Service.
