Famagusta honors the 1st of April - Program of celebrations

With the provincial parade of Famagusta in the Municipality of Sotira, the celebrations for the anniversary of the beginning of the national liberation struggle 1-'1955 culminate tomorrow, April 59st.

Celebration program:

SAVIOR:

  • 6:30 a.m. Eothino from the band of the Catholic Congregations Sotiras.
  • 7:00 a.m. Raising a Flag at the Monument of the Fallen and Missing Savior.
  • 10:30 a.m. Festive Doxology at the Holy Temple of the Transfiguration. The solemnity of the day will be delivered by the Commissioner of the Presidency, Mr. Fotis Fotiou.
    Trisagio at the Monument of the Fallen and Missing Savior.
    One Minute Silence, Laying of Wreaths.
  • 11:00 a.m. Famagusta District Parade along Arch. Makarios III Avenue. Organized Ensembles from Municipalities and Communities of the province of Famagusta take part The greeting of the parade will be received by the Mayor Sotiras Mr. George Takkas and the Commissioner of the Presidency, Mr. Fotis Fotiou.
  • 6:30 p.m. Submission of the Flag by the Mayor Sotiras, Mr. Georgios Takkas.
  • All citizens are informed that on the day of the doxology and the parade, it is strictly forbidden to stop and park all wheeled vehicles on the road of the parade (Sotiros Street, Eleftherias Square, Makarios III Avenue).
    Instead of wreaths, contributions will be made for the needs of the Committee of Relatives of the Fallen and Missing Savior. Wreaths will be laid only by the host Municipality, the official guest, the local authorities, the Church of the Savior, the Security Forces and the Committee of Relatives of the Fallen and Missing.

PARALIMNI:

  • 6:00: Eothine Parade: The 21st Naval Scout System, the 291st Air Scout System, the Catechism of Agios Georgios, the Catechism of Agios Dimitrios and the Catechism of Agia Varvara participate
  • 7:00: Raising the Flag at the Municipal Palace: The Philharmonic Orchestra of Paralimni “Harmony” is playing
  • 9:30: Festive Doxology at the Metropolitan Church of Agios Georgios Chorostatountos of Metropolitan Constantia-Famagusta Vassilios. Deputy Minister of Shipping Natasa Pileidou will be present on behalf of the Government. The solemnity of the day will be delivered by Panagiotis Antoniou, Chairman of the Committee of the Educational Service.
  • 10:15: Trisagio and laying of wreaths at the monument of heroes

LIOPETRI:

  • 5:30 a.m .: Eothino by the Band of Nationalist Associations "I Do Not Forget"
  • 8:30 a.m. Doxology at the Holy Temple of Panagia Eleousa. Festive of the day by the Minister of Health, Mr. Konstantinos Ioannou. Archimandrite Augustinos Kkaras will be added. March in the community square, where a trishagio will be held and wreaths will be laid at the statue of the Hero-Martyr Modestos Pantelis.
  • 6:00 pm: March with 10 bands in the direction of Liopetri Square, in the area where the statue of the Hero is located.
  • 7:00 pm: Short tribute to the start of the race. Greetings from the President of the Nationalist Associations of Liopetri and the President of the Union of Fighters EOKA 55-59 Famagusta and a speech by the President of DISY.

Parades and eulogies will be held in other Municipalities and Communities of the province of Famagusta.
