On Tuesday, January 10, 2023, shortly before midnight, a 27-year-old man from Frenaros was driving his Estate vehicle along Korai Street in Paralimni, heading towards Yorki Papadopoulou.
At some point on the road in his attempt to overtake a leading saloon car which at the given moment was signaling to enter Kapodistria Street on the right according to his course, the front of his vehicle collided with the right front side of the leading vehicle.
As a result of the collision, the 27-year-old's vehicle overturned repeatedly and ended up in the middle of the road. As for the preceding vehicle, it was driven by a nineteen-year-old from Paralimni, with the passenger also a nineteen-year-old from Paralimni.
The two 19-year-olds were not injured in the collision, while the 27-year-old had to be extricated from his vehicle with the intervention of the fire service.
The 27-year-old was transported by ambulance to the General Hospital of Famagusta where, from the tests he underwent, it was found that there was no serious risk, nevertheless, for preventive reasons, he entered the intensive care unit.
All involved were wearing seat belts. The two nineteen-year-olds underwent a preliminary alcohol test with a zero reading.
As for the 27-year-old, blood was drawn to be sent for laboratory tests for alcohol and drugs.
Today in a new communication with the intensive care unit of the General Hospital of Famagusta, it was reported that the condition of the 27-year-old is very good and does not inspire any danger.
