The final results of the project "Mosaic of Civilizations" which completed the third year of its implementation in the Province of Famagusta by the Municipalities of Paralimni (main partner), Ayia Napa, Sotiras and Deryneia as well as by the company Enoros Consulting Ltd, (other partners presented) during a press conference, which took place today, Thursday, March 29, at the Municipal Palace of Paralimni.

In his greeting, the Mayor of Paralimni, Mr. Theodoros Pyrillis, stated that through the "Mosaic of Civilizations" the role of the Local Government is strengthened for the smooth integration and integration of the Cypriot society of the Third Country Citizens. The Province of Famagusta added that it hosts 20,3% of the Third Country Nationals living and working in Cyprus and their social integration is a two-way dynamic in the process of adapting the Third Country Nationals to the host country environment and the residents to new social, economic and cultural conditions of multicultural societies.

He also mentioned that each Municipality during the three-year course of the project held intercultural artistic events starring third-country nationals, Children's Festival to highlight and accept the diversity of children, social support and social orientation programs, exchange activities, programs and techniques training and education as well as an information booklet-service guide.

The Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Giannis Karousos, in his greeting pointed out the fact that the project "Mosaic of Civilizations" is the first co-financed project, in which all four Municipalities of the Province of Famagusta participate. "It is very important, he added, that the project continued for the third consecutive year with great success and this is proof that when we are united and claim together, we all benefit.

Mr. Karousos told us all "we have seen and experienced the results of this program throughout the Province" and thanked the staff of the Municipalities who have worked and embraced this initiative and without them he said the Municipalities could not implement the program which is one of the main reasons for success. He expressed the hope that the project will continue and that he hopes to submit other joint proposals for other European programs, especially now, as he noted with the experience and know-how acquired by the Municipalities.

In his own intervention, the Mayor Sotiras Mr. George Ttakkas referred to the actions undertaken by the Municipality such as computer training courses and social and psychological support programs in the form of seminars for Third Country Nationals and the various events organized by the Municipality. He also stressed that the "Mosaic of Cultures" Program largely achieved the goals set by its inspirers and managed to activate the local authorities and agencies of the Province of Famagusta in the process of integration and integration of immigrants-Third Country Nationals and offered great opportunities and socialization. interaction of immigrants with local communities. Speaking at the conference on behalf of the Head of the European Funds Unit of the Ministry of Interior, Mr. Konstantinos Kyprianou, Ms. Andia Savva said that through training and education programs, acquaintance with the culture and society of Cyprus, but also through various other actions for the interaction with the local community and the active participation of third country nationals in it, the company managed to complete the project, covering the indicators set in the Grant Agreement. As the Responsible Authority of the Internal Affairs Funds, he added "we recognize the difficulty of managing and approaching a number of third-country nationals and we particularly appreciate the efforts you have made in order to contribute to their integration into the society of Famagusta Province".

Ms. Savva expressed her confidence that although the co-financing has been completed, these actions of the Municipalities, which host immigrants who contribute to society and the economy, will continue, helping to ensure the cohesion of the local community, the exploitation of diversity and diversity. . The "Integration Programs by Local Authorities", but also more general projects related to the integration of third-country nationals in the local community, he said, are one of the priorities of the European Fund Unit of the Ministry of Interior, which will receive a significant increase in co-financing within the next assured that as a Responsible Authority it will continue to contribute in the best possible way to address the challenges in the field of asylum, immigration and integration, but also to the implementation of projects aimed at the progress and prosperity of society. us.

The Director of Enoros Consulting Ltd Mr. Konstantinos Kloudas described the results of the project as very satisfactory, noting as an important element the fact that any actions, which were planned during the three years and were implemented on an annual basis, were not actions planned in an office but were designed and implemented based on the needs of the beneficiaries themselves.

Then Mr. Kloudas presented the programs undertaken by the Municipalities such as Computer training courses and social inclusion programs by the Municipality of Sotiras, First aid seminars by specialized instructors as well as courses for the provision of care services for children and the elderly by the Municipality of Paralim. art classes from the Municipality of Ayia Napa. He also referred to the intercultural artistic events organized by all four Municipalities, which, as he said, had a large attendance.

The total budget of the project for the year 2018-2019 amounts to 126 thousand euros and is co-financed by the European Asylum, Immigration and Integration Fund and the Republic of Cyprus.
