The inauguration of the new building of the Famagusta Police Department and the Paralimni Police Station took place this morning, Monday 04/02.
The inauguration was performed by the President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis. The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of the Chief of Police and the Attorney General.

The spread of drugs has taken on a great dimension, said today the President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis, adding that in order for the Police to be successful in combating the phenomenon, it needs the help of the public.
Welcoming him at the inauguration of the Famagusta Police Department in Paralimni, President Anastasiadis said that the Police Station, the Police Directorate and the Department of Lands and Urban Planning are upgrading the Paralimni-metropolis, for as long as it takes - I hope not for free. .
He added that the "three projects that are currently added to the plethora of projects that have been implemented or are being implemented by the Government in the Municipality of Paralimni, among others, include the upgrade of the Technical School of Paralimni, the construction of a Sports Hall by the Municipality of Paralimni. fourth Primary School and the track and field improvement projects at the Tasos Markos Stadium ".
He also continued "include the construction of an event hall at the Technical School of Paralimni, costing 430 thousand euros, the construction of a multipurpose hall at the first Primary School of Paralimni, the expansion of the first Primary School of Paralimni, while at the same time the Improvement Pernera in Protaras ".
He also noted that "through the licensing of the construction of Paralimni Marina, in addition to similar developments, the area will be upgraded with tourism developments and investments of over 100 million euros. At the same time, through alternative proposals, which have been put before the interested parties, I hope that soon we will be able to announce the implementation of the construction of a golf course, which will certainly be licensed this time ".
President Anastasiadis also said that "the problems of delay are clearly due to environmental reasons, but two specific areas have been proposed, which are superior to the current area, where it would be built, so, I believe, the businessmen who are interested, the Municipality and state, together, we will succeed so that this project will soon become a reality ".
In his greeting, the President of the Republic also referred to projects that will start in 2019, concerning the Kappari road network, the upgrading of Paralimni High School, the construction of a section of 1st of April Avenue and the improvement works in the fishing shelters of Agia Triada and Paralimniou ".
The total of the projects, totaling over 45 million euros, he noted, "have as final recipients of the various positive results that result from the citizens themselves, proving in practice the interest we show in upgrading their quality of life by embracing the vision of local authorities , the Mayor and the Municipal Council, in general of the citizens ".
Referring to the Famagusta Police Department and the Paralimni Police Station, which was inaugurated today, the President said that this "will upgrade the working environment in which police officers work, but at the same time, a number of projects that have been reported, give its mark determination of the Government to emphasize the upgrading of the building facilities not only of the Police Directorates, but also of the Courts and I believe soon of the Legal Service as well. On the occasion of the presence of the Attorney General here, I announce it, I think they are in consultation with the Minister of Justice, so that they are two parallel towers in the area ".
The President of the Republic also gave a message, that "the security of the citizen, but also the administration of justice is something that interests us. And if there is one thing I want to mention with praise, it is the achievements of the Police, despite the growing trend of crime. And it was achieved thanks to the voluntary offer of the citizens ".
He even referred to the neighborhood observers and said that "in 2012 there were four thousand in three municipalities and communities, while today it is 105 thousand in 317 municipalities and communities. This has contributed to the detection of very serious crimes, not just in the long run but the next day. And that must be said, "he said. He further added that "we should not focus on the very unacceptable samples, and not on what the vast majority of wealthy police officers offer".
At the same time, he expressed the certainty that "with the strictness that distinguishes the Chief, the administration in general of the Police, they will also be fought so that we have a Police Corps that enjoys the trust of the public".
In his greeting, the President of the Republic also referred to a point of the speech of the Mayor of Paralimni, Theodoros Pyrillis, regarding TEVEA and EVEA and said that "we are in dialogue, we are trying to find the best possible solution, I definitely share the concerns expressed by "but at the same time we want to see how it is possible, without any division, to have a truly unified body, which also expresses the free area of Famagusta for the benefit of entrepreneurs who operate and invest in the region."
At the same time, he assured the Mayor of Paralimni that the government will be on the side of the Municipality "and for new projects, as long as they are mature, well planned and, of course, the state finances allow it".
President Anastasiadis wished "better conditions, so that the Police Force does not need reinforcement due to the increase in crime", while he also referred to what - as he said - concerns all these days, namely the "great dimension that the spread has taken of narcotics. A catastrophic, criminal course of some elements for which, in order for the Police to be successful - which is successful - it needs the help of the public ".
Instead, he noted "some people appear and make non-existent allegations in Parliament or elsewhere, it is good to inform the Police, to inform the authorities, so that the necessary measures are taken and there is a corresponding treatment."
President Anastasiadis congratulated the participants of the project so that it becomes a reality "and wished" the best in Paralimni, but also in the other Municipalities and communities of the free area of Famagusta ".
