More than ninety informal migrants from Syria were aboard a boat that was spotted by the Police yesterday afternoon at noon off Cape Greco.

According to the Press Office of the Police Headquarters, around 2 yesterday at noon, a boat with migrants was located 14 nautical miles southeast of Cape Greco.

A Port Police boat went to the spot and the boat was stopped for control 5 nautical miles from Cape Greco.

Around five yesterday afternoon, the Port Police boat with members of the Aliens and Immigration Service managed to approach the boat.

However, due to health problems, instructions were given such as a pregnant woman, along with her baby and a minor boy with his mother to be transported to the General Hospital of Famagusta where after receiving medical treatment, they were transferred back to the fishing shelter of Agios Nikolaos.

At around 13 pm, the 31 women and XNUMX children aboard the boat were transported by the Port Police boat to the fishing shelter.

Also, 2 women and six minor children were transported as a precaution to the General Hospital of Famagusta, where after receiving medical treatment, they were then transported back to the fishing shelter.

A makeshift camp was set up by the Civil Defense in the area of ​​the fishing shelter and the women and children were given blankets and clothes for the small children as well as water and food.

About 50 men remained on the boat off Cape Greco and, according to police, started the boat from the Syrian city of Tartus.
