The 80th anniversary of the National Day of October 28, 1940 was celebrated with a solemn eulogy in the temples of the free province of Famagusta.
The official eulogy at the Metropolitan Church of Agios Georgios in Paralimni was officiated by Metropolitan Constantia and Famagusta Vassilios in the presence (based on the permitted measures) of the student community, the political and military leadership as well as representatives of local associations and organizations.
The government was represented by the Director of the Office of the President of the Republic.
The solemnity of the day was announced by the teacher and former Principal of the Secondary School, Chrystalla Koutsofta.
This was followed by a trishagio at the Heroes' Monument in Agios Georgios Square and wreaths were laid.
