A 78-year-old kidney patient from Sotira left his last breath at the General Hospital of Famagusta.

The unfortunate man went on the morning of Friday 15/11 for examinations at the General Hospital of Famagusta. Around 06:30 while he was in the canteen of the Hospital, he fainted. He was immediately taken to the First Aid where he was pronounced dead.

The death of the unfortunate 78-year-old was the reason for the kidney patients to break out for the understaffing as they express fears that any incident could happen during the dialysis.

There is no nephrologist at the hospital and doctors from Larnaca are forced to come. Kidney patients often complain that there is a change in their prescription resulting in problems.

It is pointed out that at the Famagusta General Hospital at the moment there is only one nephrologist who is currently on leave. The kidney patients complain that despite the calls of the Hospital, no deputy doctor was sent.

Famagusta Hospital is currently visited by around 40 kidney patients and despite the fact that the needs of the Hospital are for three nephrologists, however there is only one doctor, resulting in dialysis in the afternoon and evening to be done by the nursing staff, taking responsibility in case of any incident.

At the same time, according to information from SigmaLive, the Famagusta General Hospital in the Department of Pathology and Cardiology Clinic, there are only two cardiologists and another three are expected to come in January, with the result that cases that need a cardiologist face the same risks.
