The children were informed that the Municipality of Sotiras built this monument, at the spot where the heroic figure of Christodoula breathed her last. This was done as a small mark of honor in the struggle of each of our fellow cancer sufferers.

More specifically, the cancer patient Christodoula was a refugee. During the period of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, she suffered so much that she died here, in Sotira, defeated by her illness.
