A 44-year-old man from Romania has been arrested by the Police in connection with the investigation of burglary cases in the province of Famagusta.

Specifically, between the hours of 07:30 and 09:10 on Tuesday morning, there was a burglary at a house in Deryneia. Gold worth a total of approximately € 4.400 was stolen from the house.

Also, at around 9:10 in the morning of the same day, a 35-year-old man who lives on Spyrou Kyprianou Street in Sotira while he was at his house, complained to the Police that he heard an unknown person repeatedly ringing the doorbell. Then he realized  two people trying to break into the garage door.

The owner of the house chased the two people, who ran in different directions, while then they escaped in a gold car, the details of which he gave to the Police.

After the complaint, the Community Policing Services of the province of Famagusta were mobilized, as well as the members of the Neighborhood Observer Institution of Municipalities and Communities, where they were informed through text messages about the incident and the details of the suspects' car.

On Wednesday night, a 44-year-old man from Romania, owner of a car, was arrested in Nicosia by members of the Nicosia Police Department.

The suspect was handed over and is being held at the Famagusta Police Station in Paralimni, while during interrogation he named a second person, a 40-year-old compatriot, as his accomplice.

An eight-day detention order was issued against him today.

The case is being examined by the Famagusta Police Department.
