The occupancy of the Famagusta General Hospital, which operates as a Reference Hospital for patients with coronavirus, decreased to 65%, Amalia Hatzigianni, Scientific Director of the Larnaca-Famagusta General Hospitals, told KYPE.

He added that "today the news at the Reference Hospital is very pleasant, since its occupancy has been reduced to 65%. Today, 49 patients are being treated, five of whom are in the Intensive Care Unit, as they need closer monitoring ".

Ms. Hatzigianni expressed "joy and satisfaction for the fact that 11 patients are being discharged today and will return home. This morning, 4 admissions were made, with the result that the patients who are hospitalized until 1 at noon, are reduced to 42 ".

He added that the average age of patients admitted to the Referral Hospital is 60 years. "The youngest patient is 31 years old and the oldest 91, who has not been vaccinated," he said, adding that "only four patients are over 80 years old."

Answering a relevant question, Ms. Hatzigianni said that "of the patients admitted to the Referral Hospital, only one patient has a history of vaccination, who unfortunately fell ill very quickly after vaccination and did not manage to develop antibodies."
