The 7th Medieval Ayia Napa Festival kicked off on Saturday, October 12, with a large parade of artistic groups taking part in it.
A written statement from the Municipality of Ayia Napa states that "more than 150 people dressed in impressive medieval costumes paraded along Makarios Avenue in the city center, leaving the best impressions on the public. The parade ended inside the Monastery where the participants made a short presentation in front of the officials and spectators ".
Welcoming the local and foreign visitors, the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Giannis Karousos, stated that "the Medieval Festival, which is evolving into one of the best Medieval Festivals in Cyprus, has gained many fans in Cyprus and abroad", gaining positive impressions.
At the same time, he assured that "the Municipality of Ayia Napa will continue to upgrade the Medieval Festival, since it is an event that contributes to the enrichment of the tourist product of the region, the extension of the tourist season and the cultural events of our place."
In his own speech, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Nikos Kougialis said, among other things, that "Ayia Napa is a pre-eminent tourist destination, the Medieval Festival has its own special significance. Ayia Napa is a pioneer in organizing events and cultural events that succeed, not only to enrich our tourism product, but also to contribute to a healthy form of entertainment and employment for locals and foreign visitors.
The Medieval Festival of Ayia Napa will last until Friday, October 14, 2017.
