21-year-old took his brother's G3 and started shooting

A 21-year-old man from Larnaca was arrested by the Police because he allegedly shot in the air, on the street, with a G3 military rifle, which is charged to his brother by the National Guard. 

According to the Police, around 21.10 last night, information was received from the officer of the Larnaca Police Directorate that shots were heard on a specific street in Larnaca.

Members of TAE Larnaca went to the scene and from examinations they carried out it was found, according to the Police, that around 21.05 last night, a 21-year-old from Larnaca took from the bedroom of his paternal home, the G3 military rifle, which is charged by National Guard to one of his brothers, who lives in the same house.

The 21-year-old is said to be holding a gun, coming out of his paternal home and walking along the street shooting in the air.

Upon hearing the shots, the 21-year-old's second brother went out on the street and asked him to hand over his weapon, which the young man did, and then they entered the house.

The scene was investigated by members of TAE Larnaca who located along the road and received as evidence 9 full cartridges and 4 calyxes, all 7.62 mm in diameter.

An arrest warrant was obtained against the 21-year-old, he was arrested shortly after 11 last night and is being held in the Police Detention Center. The young man is suspected of illegal possession of a category A firearm, illegal possession of explosives and shooting inside a residential area.

The G3 military rifle was received for further testing.

The case is being investigated by the Larnaca Police Department.
