Kokkinochoria of Larnaca province and the free province of Famagusta are famous for their fertile soil with the dark red color and the multitude of agricultural products grown in the wider area.
However, the protagonist of the agricultural products of the region is none other than the potato which is considered one of the best in Europe. The favorite product of Kokkinochoria, the potato could not but have its own festival which takes place this year in the village of Avgorou for the fourth consecutive year.
The event will take place on Saturday, June 25 at Avgorou (First Primary School) and will be under the auspices of the Minister of Transport and Works.
The event will feature an exhibition of old and modern agricultural machinery, while there will be kiosks with irrigation items. Also pesticide companies will present their products.
The Department of Agriculture will create an exhibition stand with all the varieties of potatoes grown in our place.
Food and sweet potato
Chefs in collaboration with the Youth of the Cultural Group of Avgoros will prepare traditional and modern dishes with potato as the main raw material. We will have the opportunity to try both foods with different variations of potatoes and sweets.
The Cultural Club THI Avgorou with its music and dance department will present music and songs of the Cypriot tradition.
Finally, the Musical Group Musa with Michalis Terlikkas will undertake the artistic program of the festival.
