The experts presented a comprehensive action plan

The new groundbreaking model of tourism development for our country, which was estimated to bring 82% more visitors by 2030, was presented yesterday by experts. The proposals are contained in a study on the preparation of a National Tourism Strategy, which was carried out on the initiative of the Presidency under the Development Action Plan and was presented yesterday before an inter-ministerial committee at the Presidential Palace. In fact, the proposals in the same study predict that by 2030 they will increase revenue by 185%, while 64% more staff is expected to be employed.

 Specific plan
According to an official announcement, for the first time a comprehensive, comprehensive National Strategy has been prepared, which presents not only quantitative and qualitative goals, but also a specific plan with proposed actions and timetables on how to achieve these goals, as well as by which public and private agencies, with a time horizon of 2017-2030.

The experts, among other things, pointed out that Cyprus can become, by 2030, a sustainable year-round tourist destination, which will attract more than 4.8 million foreign tourists annually and more than 6 million in total, 40% of which in November-April period.

 The new proposed tourism development model aims to attract tourists at a higher per capita cost and create significant added value for Cyprus, the local community, businesses, the environment and the economy.

Complete design
The quality objectives aim at the integrated spatial planning with mixed-use resorts, the upgrading of the existing tourist complexes with better services, the improvement of the visual aesthetics, the creation of new products and rich experiences for the tourists with emphasis on the local heritage, culture and natural environment, while also contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of Cypriot citizens.

 A key to the implementation of the National Strategy, as noted, is the improvement of the regulatory framework and the system of governance based on international good practices, which is in line with the Government's plans to establish a strategic and supervisory Authority, the Ministry of Tourism. It is reminded that the relevant bill has been submitted by the Undersecretary to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, last December.

L. Avraamidis sees an increase
