Couples from Wales and Scotland were named "Ayia Napa Tourism Ambassadors" after visiting the area 60 and 70 times.
A written statement from the City of Ayia Napa stated that "William and Irene Wilson from Scotland and Derek and Christine Williams from Wales were honored and paid 60 and 70 visits respectively. The two couples are ranked at the top of the list of the Municipality of Ayia Napa for the most visits in the area ".
The award ceremony was held today by the Municipal Councilor and Chairman of the Committee for Improving the Quality of Life and Citizens' Complaints Mario Vassos, who "expressed the heartfelt thanks of the Mayor and the Municipal Council for the repeated visits of foreigners to Ayia Napa".
He added that "the awarding of the highest distinction of the Municipality that declares the two couples as" Ayia Napa Tourism Ambassadors "is the minimum honor in order to express the satisfaction and gratitude of all to the honored persons who show special preference in the city."
He also said that the two couples are "the best ambassadors of Ayia Napa in their countries and the title that was rightfully awarded to them".
