The Famagusta Crime Investigation Department is investigating a case of securing goods with false representations.

According to the Police, yesterday, Tuesday, a 70-year-old resident of Sotiras complained to the TAE that on the same day at eleven in the morning, an unknown man visited her house and took 700 euros and 800 euros worth of jewelry.

Specifically, the unknown man told the woman that he was working at the Hospital and that his 50-year-old son had a car accident. She added that since the accident, her son needed immediate surgery to place platinum on his leg. However, in order to do this, the mother of the 50-year-old had to give the unknown man money as an advance payment for the operation and gold to melt them and become platinum.

The 70-year-old was convinced and handed over to the stranger the amount of 700 euros and jewelry worth 800 euros. The unknown man after taking the money and the jewelry left in an unknown direction.

According to the description given by the woman to the Police, the man seems to be about 30 years old, but it is unknown whether he is a Cypriot or a foreigner and escaped in a red Mitsubishi double-cab vehicle.
