A 96-year-old visitor to Cyprus from Switzerland died suddenly while swimming on Makronisos beach in Ayia Napa.
The incident took place around 17:00 on Sunday afternoon. Attendees and lifeguards tried to give the unfortunate tourist first aid. The 96-year-old was transported by ambulance to the General Hospital of Famagusta, where she was pronounced dead. .
The exact causes of her death will become clear after the autopsy performed by the medical examiner, Nikos Charalambous.
