In fact, this is one of the establishments that do not pay the EAC taking advantage of the well-known peculiar situation of Pyla, which has repeatedly occupied the government and Parliament without a solution.

The said employee of the Electricity Authority, himself proceeded to upgrade the electrical installation of the illegal casino by increasing the intensity of the electricity in the premises, so that more devices can operate there.

When the relevant information reached the EAC management and it was found that this was done without following the procedures, a workshop of the semi-governmental organization went on the spot and restored the facility to its previous state.

It should be noted that usually in similar appearances of EAC crews, there are reactions, however the restoration of the previous state in the electrical installation of the "casino" was without problems.

From the EAC side, they consider that this incident is not and will not be isolated, given the situation prevailing in relation to the control of its electricity network in Pyla, where Turkish Cypriots or Greek Cypriots who own premises with EAC supply facilities, do not pay accounts.

On the contrary, they use some of these premises for energy-intensive uses, without paying a single euro, with the result that the EAC is charged virtually every year with unpaid electricity of the order of € 1 million. Even the meters do not allow it to be replaced. That is why the semi-governmental organization has repeatedly requested that the issue be included in the priorities of the discussions in the negotiations on confidence-building measures, but also for interventions in UNFICYP, in order to resolve at least part of these problems.
