In broad daylight, two robberies were committed against persons, on Friday afternoon in free Famagusta. In the first case, three young Turkish Cypriots entered a mini-market at 5 pm and initially claimed that they wanted to buy some products, with the result that the 45-year-old Greek Cypriot owner left his place behind the cash register to serve. Then the two attacked him and managed to immobilize him under the threat of a knife. The third snatched from the cash register an amount of 250 to 300 euros.
The three young men disappeared on foot. The mini-market is located at the entrance of Ayia Napa along the Cape - Greco Avenue, a few tens of meters from the Ayia Napa Police Station.
In the second case, three other young foreigners, probably of Arab descent this time, attacked and robbed the bag of a young Bulgarian woman. The incident happened at 3 on the busy Panteleimona Street, in Paralimni. The Bulgarian woman was a pedestrian, as were the perpetrators, who disappeared while running. The bag contained 30 euros, the identity and personal belongings of its owner.
Both cases are being investigated by the Famagusta Police Department.
