A 4,5-year-old boy from Syria, who was injured yesterday in Paralimni, is being treated at the Makareio Hospital in Nicosia in critical but stable condition.

According to the Police, yesterday around 5 in the afternoon, a 12-year-old German passport holder from Syria, located her brother, 4,5 years old, at the bottom of the pool of the apartments where they are staying for a vacation with their parents in Paralimni.

The 12-year-old pulled her brother from the bottom of the pool and while he was carrying him out, he slipped on the last step and they fell to the ground together. From the fall of the two, it seems that the little one hit his head, resulting in his serious injury.

The boy was given first aid, ie cardiopulmonary resuscitation by two citizens, who found that the child had neither breathing nor pulse, which they managed to restore.

The child was then transported by ambulance to the General Hospital of Famagusta, where he was intubated.

Examinations did not reveal any fractures or internal bleeding, but fluid was found in the boy's lungs, which could not be determined whether it was water or tinctures.

At around eight last night, the boy was taken by ambulance to Makarios Hospital in Nicosia, where he was detained for treatment, while his condition is considered critical but stable.

The case is being investigated by the Paralimni Police Station.
