As indicated by Mr. Michailidis, for 2014, more than 2.000 cases of applicants were identified, who owed on 31/12/2014 amounts for water they received from the WDD.
For about 400 of the above debtors, the WDD initiated legal proceedings to recover the amounts due for the period 2006-2014.
About half of the above debtors have repaid the amounts of the lawsuits against them in full, but in the meantime they have created other overdue debts to the WDD.
The Auditor General also notes that farmers are illegally given certificates that they have cultivated more land than they actually cultivated and asks the PLO to investigate the matter.
The Auditor General in his report on the PLO records examples, such as for the year 2012 the certified area was 1.251 ten, compared to 914,80 ten which was the eligible area, ie there is a difference of 36,8%.
Mr. Michailidis also notes serious weaknesses and omissions that raised reasonable suspicions of possible fraud and misuse of community and national resources in the implementation of the "agricultural product promotion program".
