Maria, Eleni, Androula, Georgia, Panagiota, Anna and Christina are the most common female names in Cyprus, while the most common male names are Andreas, George, Costas, Christos, Nikolas, Michalis and Panagiotis.
This was announced by the Statistical Service of Cyprus based on the list that presents the frequency of the names of the population, as recorded in the 2011 Population Census.
In order of frequency the name Maria is first and is recorded 39.883 times, second Andreas with 36.682, third Eleni with 29.393 and fourth the name George with 26.284
In the last places of the list from the list with the approximately 943 names that are recorded are female names such as Dalia, Felicia, Chrysilia and male names such as Merkouris, Morfakis, Rodotheos that are recorded together with 10 other times each.
Some 145.612 are included in the category with a frequency of less than 10, foreign names, as well as cases of names that were not declared.
