The President of the Parliament, Dimitris Syllouris, announced today, in a press conference, his cooperation with the former President of the Supreme Court, Akis Hatzihambis, on issues of legal advice.

The form of cooperation will be purely advisory and he stressed that a new beginning is being made with the institutionalization of this role. The form that this cooperation will take is purely advisory, pointed out the speaker of the parliament.

As the Speaker of the Parliament said, in the past there were thoughts that the Parliament should cooperate with a person of known prestige who gives the legal advice needed by the legislature, adding that he, balancing all the views, came to three points:

1. The creation internally of the Legal Service of the Parliament.

2. The purchase of services where needed for specific issues.

3. The cooperation with a person who acts informally as collaborators of the Speaker of the Parliament for the issues of justice in general.

Finally, he said that this cooperation will contribute to the general reflection in an open discussion with society, but also with institutions of the legal system, in order to modernize, upgrade and bring to the table issues in which it suffers and needs improvement.
