One person detained for injuring a special police officer in Ayia Napa

In Ayia Napa, a police officer was slightly injured when a four-wheeled motorcyclist, instead of stopping to check as instructed, developed speed and hit him in the right hand.

According to the Police, around 21.00 on Wednesday night, a special police officer signaled to a driver of a four-wheeled motorcycle moving on Nisi Street in Ayia Napa, to stop for control.

The driver of the motorcycle initially slowed down but then developed speed and escaped, hitting the special policeman in the right hand.

Examinations carried out after the information provided by the special police officer confirmed the identity of the driver, who is a 21-year-old British tourist. An arrest warrant was issued against him and shortly after one in the morning, he was located, arrested by the Police and placed in custody.

The special police officer visited a private clinic in Ayia Napa where after receiving first aid he was fired.

The case is being investigated by the Ayia Napa Police Station.
