Greece became European Champion in basketball for the third time in the history of the event at the level of Young Men! Our representative team prevailed over their Israeli counterpart 65-56 in the final held in Heraklion, Crete.

Although it started numbly, the team gradually regained control of the match and 4 three and a half minutes before the end of the half took the lead (18-16), while going to the locker room with the score at 26-23 in its favor.

In the second half, the players of Ethniki continued on the same violin, with the difference reaching up to 12 points in the third period (37-25), while in the last period it even reached 16 (59-43), with the Greek team to comfortably reach victory.

The first scorer for our national team was Koniaris with 15 points, while Charalambopoulos also made a very good appearance, with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Lountzis added 12 points, while Christidis had 9 points and 5 rebounds. For the Israelis, Zusman had 23 points and 7 rebounds, while Blatt scored 10 points and shared 7 assists.

It is reminded that the last time our national youth team had won the European Championship was in 2009, again on Greek soil (in Rhodes), against France in the final, while in 2002 it was the first Greek conquest, in Lithuania, against in the final Spain.
