Make sure you do not go to the party table hungry…

Enjoying traditional meals with family and friends at Christmas does not mean that you should forget about your healthy eating habits.

We give you nutritional tips so that you can enjoy the festive table in moderation in food and drink.

Make sure you do not go to the party table hungry. Keep a balance and do not get into the logic of not eating all day to enjoy dinner. Do not skip the other meals! Eat your breakfast regularly, the two snacks in between (fruit, juices, bars) and make plenty of salad with cheese or egg on the eve of the stay, so that you do not arrive at the festive table fasting.

Stay true to the dish rule! At the festive table, fill your plate with plenty of vegetables, a portion of meat and 2 tablespoons of rice or potatoes or 2 slices of bread, do not snack on the buffet. Make a dish from scratch and be content with it. Do not be fooled into not eating all day to enjoy the gala dinner, it's wrong. Reduce the feeling of hunger before sitting at the festive table. Before anything else put salad on the plate. On the one hand it will reduce the space available for other meals and on the other hand it will cut your appetite. Get up from the festive table just before you are full. Eat slowly, chewing food well and enjoying your food and company. Remove the skin from the turkey and save several calories. If you prefer stuffed turkey, then make sure the stuffing contains chestnuts, pine nuts or even fruit, but not minced meat. For dessert, prefer fruit. A rich fruit salad, baked apples sprinkled with cinnamon, jelly or 2% yogurt with pieces of fruit are some innocent and at the same time tasty suggestions. Avoid viscous sauces, with cheese, butter or sour cream and large amounts of fried foods. Avoid yellow cheeses that are high in fat and prefer their light versions or even better cream cheese. Use a smaller plate and cutlery. Serve the amount of food you are going to consume on your plate, so that you are aware of the quantity and avoid snacking on the dishes on the table.

Melomakarono gives the least calories, followed by kourabies, in contrast to sweets that contain a lot of fat, such as pastes, sweets with creams, etc. Limit yourself to the three days of Christmas and do not continue to consume throughout the week.

Make sure you drink plenty of water shortly before eating, which will give you a feeling of satiety. Drink plenty of water during the day, at least 8-10 glasses. Beware of alcohol consumption. If you drink, prefer red wine that is rich in antioxidants or beer. Alternatively combine your drink with soda or a low-calorie soft drink.
