In order to better monitor the beaches so as to prevent unpleasant incidents that may occur early in the morning or late afternoon as well as to offer the best possible service to its thousands of bathers, the Municipality of Ayia Napa decided this year to extend by two hours of the working hours of his lifeguards.

An announcement of the Municipality states that the new summer opening hours of the lifeguard Unit of the Municipality, which is implemented from Saturday, July 1, 2017 until Thursday, August 31, 2017 is from 9: 00-19: 00 and not from 10: 00-18: 00 that was valid until today.

The announcement notes that the extension of the schedule was implemented in the same period of the previous two years, achieving great success, without the need for its further extension, since the statistics so far prove that the peak hours on the beaches are in accordance with those of the new schedule. .

"With the extension of the schedule by two hours, said in his statements the Mayor Mr. Giannis Karousos, our goal is to ensure the safety of the thousands of visitors who flood the beaches every day, since as he said many of them are on the beaches outside the existing schedule , (10: 00-18: 00), so as to avoid unpleasant events before 10:00 in the morning and after 6:00 in the afternoon.

It is also worth noting that all the organized beaches of the Municipality are manned for about seven months a year with thirty-three qualified lifeguards, eleven permanent and twenty-two seasonal, who are fully equipped with the necessary lifeguard equipment.
