The Political Senate of the Citizens' Alliance gave its approval for the candidacy of George Lillikas for the Presidency of the Republic on Wednesday night.
The meeting was attended by 29 people, who were placed in their entirety.
With the statements of Stelios Americanos, Pavlos Mylonas, Simos Angelidis, Marina Dimitriou and Irini Mantoles, the position was reiterated that yes, George Lillikas is the most suitable candidate for the Intermediate Space, but new discussions should be held with him. there should be no split of the front with two candidates.

On the other hand, the other 23 urgently requested the announcement of George Lillikas as soon as possible, as there is no identification with the President of DIKO Nikolas Papadopoulos on the issue of GESS, nor with his "cloudy" position on the Cyprus issue .
The most important objection, however, regarding the candidacy of Nikola Papadopoulos, is the removal from the possibility of supporting AKEL, either in the first or in the second round, at a time when the goal of the Citizens' Alliance is not to re-elect Nikos Anastasiadis.
At the same time, George Lillikas reiterated his call for the decision of the overwhelming majority to be respected, both in the Supreme and in the Political Senate of the party, but also of the members of the Citizens' Alliance.
"The position of the 6 is respected, but the opinion of the majority should be more respected," he said, calling on everyone to fight together.
