The trial for the 4-fold murder in Ayia Napa continued with the testimony of two witnesses

With the testimony of two witnesses, the hearing on the case of the quadruple murder of Ayia Napa on the night of July 23, 2016 on Katalimaton Street continued today before the Permanent Criminal Court of Larnaca - Famagusta.

During the attack on The Stone Garden restaurant, Theofanis Theofanous, Kalopsidiotis, the couple Elias and Skevis Hatziefthimiou and Yani Vogli, one of the perpetrators of the murder, were killed.

Katya Bolyukova, from Bulgaria, who works in a brewery in Ayia Napa and testified at the time of the attack, drove her car out of the restaurant today.

According to the testimony of the witness, around ten o'clock on the night of June 23, 2016, she was driving her car, with a fellow passenger on the Island Avenue, and passing by The Stone Garden restaurant she saw the car parked with other cars. of Theofanis Theofanous. He added that as he walked out of the restaurant he heard three loud knocks like fireworks and didn't care because he thought they were fireworks.

She then heard "three loud bang, one behind the other" - as she stated in her deposition - and stopped her car because - as she explained - she realized it was a shot. About five meters in front of the entrance to the restaurant, the witness saw "a man wearing a black hood and dark clothes, going to the entrance of the restaurant, holding an automatic weapon, not a pistol and firing." Inside the restaurant I saw another person wearing a hood on his head but I did not see clearly if he was holding a gun. Inside the restaurant I saw a young man who took a chair and turned it over to hit the man holding the automatic weapon in the back. "

She also said that "I realized that they shot Fano" and noted that while driving her car she went upstairs to the street where she located a guard outside a club and told him that "they killed Fano".

In her main trial, the witness pointed to a photo of the "stone restaurant where Fanos was killed" meaning The Stone Garden, his car parked outside the restaurant and the places where he saw the two hooded men.

Answering questions from the representative of the Prosecuting Authority, Ellis Papagapiou, the witness explained that when she looked at the restaurant she saw "a child who got up to hold a chair and went to hit the man in the back with the automatic weapon".

Police officer Dimitris Costas, who is serving at the Agia Napa Police Station, then read out his testimony, according to which shortly after ten o'clock on the night of 23/6/2016, an unknown person called the Station and reported that shots were fired at The Stone Garden restaurant.

He added that he and other colleagues took their personal weapons and went to the scene where he saw an injured person in the ambulance of a private clinic and a second injured person being transported by nurses by stretcher, to be placed in an ambulance of another clinic.

He also noted that on his way to the entrance of the restaurant, he saw "a woman on her back on the ground, and two men covered in blood and between tables, with no signs of life, while on the ground there were cartridge cases." To the left of the dining area I saw a person with a hood on his head and a dark one-piece suit on the ground and there was a pistol in front of him. "

According to the witness, he saw the accused in the Loy Dejan case being above the two people who were lying on the ground and asked him to leave the restaurant, which he did. He also said that he and his colleagues cut off the stage, and later learned that there were two minor children whose parents were among the victims.

Answering questions from the representative of the Prosecuting Authority, Ellis Papagapiou, Mr. Costa said that after the departure of the private ambulances, he arrived at the area and an ambulance from the Famagusta General Hospital and asked his staff to examine the victims to see if they were alive. Seeing a relevant photo, he explained that the ambulance staff turned on its back and removed the hood from the head of the dead perpetrator.

He pointed to Serbian defendant Loy Dejan in the defendant's chair and explained that when he went on stage on the night of the murder, he saw him standing over the bodies of Theofanis Theofanous and Elias Chatziefthimiou and asked him to come out, which he did.

Asked about that, the witness replied that that night "people were in shock, some were panicked, some were scared, some were crying and some could not believe their eyes what had happened a few minutes before". He also stated that Loy Dejan "was calm, did not seem to have any of the things I mentioned above" and that he was being held at the Ayia Napa Police Station for the next few days. Mr. Costa also said that he did not speak with the two minor children of the couple Elias and Skevi Hatziefthymiou.

Asked by Loizo Neophytou, Loy Dejan's defense attorney, the witness said he was simply asked to leave the restaurant without being told anything else and that "he was calm, not cold." He also said that neither he nor any other colleague discussed with Dejan any details of the incident.

The hearing will continue tomorrow.
