On behalf of the Moscow-based law firm Goltsblat BLP, chief executive Andrey Goltsblat told Reuters that it was worth considering legal options, although this was not an easy task. He stated that it will be a long legal process and that the options are lawsuits against Cyprus or against banks.

Goltsblat revealed that two Russians, one of whom now resides in Cyprus, had approached him and asked for legal advice. Steven Philippsohn, a partner at PCB Litigation in London, said three major banks in Russia and elsewhere had also sought legal advice on how to handle the situation. He also said that there may be some kind of compromise to justify those who lose their money.
