Limassol, on the other hand, has great financial support from Russian tycoons. Roman Abramovich (president of the Chelsea football team) stayed to anchor in the port of Limassol.
The canals on the other hand tend to have a strong love for Paphos. Tourism in Paphos decreased, tourism in Paphos increased, etc.
And we the people of Famagusta? Because we said it, we made it clear that there is a free Famagusta! But apparently, once again, they forgot about us. We have no Chinese crooks, no Russian tycoons, no advertising from anyone!
Not even the support of the Government, because note that the marina of Ayia Napa is built by individuals and not by any fat budget of the Government. We, the free Famagusta, have been walking alone for so many years. However, we are still the number one destination in Cyprus!
But let domestic tourism be good. The people of Nicosia above all love and support Ayia Napa and Protaras and we must thank them for that. No matter how we do it from Nicosia without a holiday home in Protaras, he does not say!
With or without tycoons, with or without advertising, Ayia Napa and Protaras will be filled with tourists everywhere. And not because we have big malls, rich investors, etc… Simply because we happen to have the most truly beautiful place. With beautiful beaches, excellent hotels, delicious restaurants and taverns but especially the most hospitable people. And no Russian or Chinese can buy that, or whatever race they want, multimillionaire!
