The Municipality of Deryneia from the Department of Water Development has promised that the defects caused by the works for the sewerage system in the road network will be repaired, so that the coatings can begin.
"The protests of the ordinary citizen, his despair and indignation at the current situation have taken place", stresses the mayor of Deryneia, Andros Karagiannis. The relevant problems were discussed during the meeting between a delegation of the Municipality of Deryneia and the Director of the Department of Water Development, Andrea Manolis.
As the head of the local government of Deryneia notes, the works for the sewerage should have been completed by the end of 2015, but with the current data, it is not excluded that it will take another five years to complete them. The biological plant in Achna, for example, has not yet started because an appeal is pending to the Tender Review Authority and with the start of the relevant work, it will take 18 months to build it.
During the meeting, fears were expressed by the Municipality of Deryneia that after the receipt of the project, it is likely that the landslides will continue and thus the cost of the relevant repair will be borne by the Municipality.
It was also reported that subcontracting creates a problem in the whole effort to build the sewerage system.
The meeting took place on January 16, 2017 and was attended by a delegation of the Municipality of Deryneia and the Department of Water Development headed by its director Andreas Manolis.
It was also discussed the repair of the existing Deryneia Water Reservoir in the area "Kokkinokremmos" to avoid water supply interruption during the summer months and the design and replacement of the main water supply pipeline at the Urban Project of Derei Stoiou
