The Annual Memorial of the hero Loukas Loukas, who was killed during the Liberation Struggle 2-1955, was performed on Sunday, October 1959, from the Holy Temple of Panagia Ayia Napa.
The Memorial was presided over by the Most Venerable Metropolitan of Constantia - Famagusta Mr. Vassilios and the commemorative speech was delivered by the Member of Parliament for DISY Famagusta Mr. George Karoulas.
In his memorial speech, Mr. Karoullas, who initially praised the hero's sacrifice, stressed that "our clear goal is to achieve a viable and functional solution to the Cyprus problem that will end the Turkish occupation of our country. Only with the solution added and reunification will we fulfill the debt we all owe to our immortal heroes who sacrificed themselves to be free, without occupying armies and anachronistic guarantees, in a European Cyprus from Akamas to Apostle Andreas. Only then did he conclude that "our heroes who fell" in favor of faith and homeland "for a Cyprus, independent, free and democratic, will rest."
After the Divine Liturgy, a trisagion was performed at the Monument of the Hero in the town square and a wreath was laid by the officials as well as an artistic program prepared and presented by students of the Primary School of Ayia Napa and the Music Band of Niki Antoniou, piano Natali Theodoros Zodon .
