Farmers spend their days and nights in the fields in the free area of Famagusta, giving a tough battle with the weather in order to save their plantations.

In the area, as in all of Cyprus, very low temperatures prevail, resulting in frost during the night. Farmers fight this phenomenon all night by watering their potato plantations.

Due to the weather, both the greenhouse owners and the cattle breeders in the area are on alert, constantly monitoring their premises, strengthening the facilities in their effort to protect them from severe weather.

Nevertheless, very large damages have not been avoided. That is why officials of the Ministry of Agriculture rushed to the area and made a first assessment of the situation, while today they will continue to record the damage.
