The intense weather phenomena that caused many problems throughout Cyprus in the last three 24 hours are receding during the day. Due to the heavy snowfall of the previous days, seven mountain communities in the province of Nicosia remain excluded, with shortages of basic necessities, while roads in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas are still closed.

The villages that remain excluded are: Lazania, Fikardou, Lemythos, Treis Elies, Kaminaria, Agios Dimitrios and Paliomylos.

All roads leading to Troodos are closed. The following roads are also closed to all vehicles:

The Police calls on the citizens to avoid unnecessary movements and to be especially careful. In case they are going to use the road network to keep low speeds and keep safe distances from their vehicles in front.

It is also pointed out that, due to the low temperature that prevails during the night, frost may form on the road, as a result of which it becomes slippery.

It also urges the public, before any traffic, to consult the police announcements regarding the road network. The weather forecast

In the afternoon the weather will be mostly clear. In the mountainous areas locally it is possible to form frost. The winds will blow mainly northeast, light to moderate 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be a little turbulent.

In the evening the weather will remain mostly clear. In mountainous and semi-mountainous areas but also at lower altitudes frost is likely to form. The winds will blow northwest to northeast and on the north coast southeast, weak up to 3 Beaufort. The sea will gradually become calm to a little turbulent. The temperature will drop to 2 degrees inland, around 5 on the coast and -2 in the higher mountains.

Tomorrow the weather will again be mostly clear. The winds will blow mainly northwest, light to moderate 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be a little turbulent. The temperature will rise to 13 degrees inland, around 15 on the coast and 3 degrees in the higher mountains. Frost will prevail locally in the mountainous areas.

On Monday and Tuesday the weather will be partly cloudy and individual rains may fall while on the higher peaks light snowfall is not ruled out.

On Wednesday the weather will be partly cloudy at times. The temperature will not change significantly during the three days.
