A 10-year-old motorcyclist was injured in a car accident that happened around 15:XNUMX last night on Eleftherias Avenue in Deryneia. The driver of the vehicle left the scene, while at dawn a mother and son went to the Police, where they pleaded guilty.

According to a police statement, the 45-year-old foreigner, resident of Cyprus, was riding his moped when, under conditions under investigation, he was hit by a car, which did not stop and continued its course, leaving the scene.

The 45-year-old was thrown from the collision and was seriously injured. He was transported by ambulance to Larnaca General Hospital where he was found to have multiple injuries to his lower limbs and pelvis and was admitted to the operating room.

From examinations carried out by the Police, the registered owner of the car was located and searched at her home, but to no avail. She had even turned off her cell phone.

Around 3:10 in the morning today, the owner of the car went to the Deryneia Police Station together with her 18-year-old son, where they allegedly admitted that they left the scene of the accident.

The 18-year-old was driving the car after, according to the mother, she had consumed alcohol.

The 18-year-old underwent a breathalyzer test with an indication of 59mg instead of 22mg, which is the legal limit. The young man allegedly stated that he consumed alcohol after the accident.

Both were arrested on bail and remanded in custody.
