The President of DIKO, Nikolas Papadopoulos, sent a clear message that both he personally and the new leadership that will be elected in the second and last phase of the internal party elections, will serve the people and not vice versa.

Speaking at a meeting with thousands of members of DIKO Nicosia, which took place at the Head Office of DIKO and which is part of his pre-election commitment for dialogue with the party base, Nikolas Papadopoulos pointed out that "the people of DIKO voted and want to speak and be heard and we must listen ".

Adding, "We can be proud and satisfied because we had a huge turnout, which did not appear in any other election contest of any other party in Cyprus."

Nikolas Papadopoulos stressed that "the people of DIKO proved that we are a democratic party, not only in name but also in grace".
Regarding the thousands of new members who were registered in the party lists, Nikolas Papadopoulos clarified that it is up to him personally but also to the new leadership that will be elected to prove that these members are not disposable members, "whom we will remember only whenever has elections ".

Nikolas Papadopoulos also referred to the role of DIKO, saying that he will be decisive due to the difficult times. "On the one hand, the unpleasant data of the Economy and on the other hand, the unpleasant developments in the National Issue, require the Democratic Party to play a decisive role, not only because it is a member of the government, but also because it is the party that has proven again and again in past that it has the right positions in both the economy and the Cypriot one. It is not out of arrogance that we demand that others listen to us. It is because our positions were justified. "We managed to achieve economic miracles whenever we ruled," he said.
