Article by Stavris Attouni:

What the heck! You should attend a funeral of your loved one and there, during the farewell speech, in an unexpected way to realize that all, but all, feelings and gratitude should be expressed here… in time.

Beloved Father,

In the course of our lives there are some people who indelibly shape our experiences and character and who with their behavior and actions shape our future. You have tried hard, with all the moral and material means, to offer the best possible to your children and to be sure that you have fulfilled it in full.

Do you remember, father, the difficult but at the same time beautiful years we lived in the orchard? The endless hours you spend in the fields or did you take care of the sheep and your fatigue at the end of the day? Where for us Sundays and holidays have never been? I remember μαι I remember the nice nights when all your children sat around a table and ate the french fries with onions and tomatoes that you made for us. I remember sitting under the stars around the mother, you and I, listening to her tales, asking her to tell us one more. I remember that in important moments of the family, you took us to "Satto" in Agia Thekla for Mirinda. I remember…

But always and despite your fatigue, you find the time to teach us and guide us to the right path of life, the path of ethics. All your actions showed your honesty and pride and were for us an example to imitate. Through your strictness you taught us to distinguish good and to avoid evil. You hardened us and benefited us because, as the ancient tragic Euripides says, "hard-working parents make better children".

The hard course in your life was intended to create better opportunities and a standard of living for your children. You and our mother were deprived in order to offer us education and a better start at the beginning of our family. And in all this, support and companion in your life, our mother…

So what do I owe you father?

Quite simply, I owe you to a great extent what I and my family are. The formation of my character, the principles I believe in, the unforgettable memories of my childhood…

Thanks for everything dad.

Υ.Γ. Is there a greater honor for children than the glory of their father or for the father than the honesty of his children?
