Civil Service Reform - Cyta discussed the Ministerial

The five bills concerning the reform of the Public Service as well as the proposal of the Minister of Finance for the labor of Cyta and the amending bill for Cyta, were discussed today by the Council of Ministers that met under the President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis at the presidential residence in Troodos.

However, the discussion was not completed and, as the Deputy Government Spokesman stated, it will be completed next week.

Regarding the five reform bills concerning the Public Service, Viktoras Papadopoulos spoke of "a great project which is not only a memorandum obligation but was also a pre-election commitment of the President of the Republic".

As he explained, the bills regulate issues such as recruitment, promotions, increases in the public sector and so on.

He noted that during the session an analysis was made by the Undersecretary to the President and a thorough discussion. "This is a huge project, there are five bills and they cover a lot of issues," he said.

He also explained that the bills horizontally cover the revolutionary reforms that the state, the place and the society need in relation to the functioning of the Public Service.

As he stated, the discussion, as well as the discussion that took place on the proposal of the Minister of Finance for the labor of the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority and the amending bill for Cyta was not completed today and will be completed next week.

Regarding Cyta, he reminded that there will be some meetings between the President of the Republic and the Minister of Finance with the Cyta unions.

After the meeting of the Council of Ministers, the President of the Republic and his wife had a meal with the Ministers and their families.
