The Council of Ministers approved on Wednesday a proposal by the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment to pay compensation of 4.5 million euros to 1300 beneficiaries for damages they suffered. The compensations to the beneficiaries will be paid in the first ten days of May.
As announced by the responsible Minister, Maria Panagiotou after the House session, the damages concerned deciduous crops and seasonal crops caused in 2023 by adverse climatic conditions, mainly hail, and the compensations are granted through the Agricultural Production Protection and Insurance Fund.
The compensations to the beneficiaries will be paid in the first ten days of May, he added.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, added the responsible Minister, "is developing a series of tools to speed up the payment of compensations when damages are caused so that the coverage of the loss of farmers' income is more immediate and more objective.
