Instagram has announced that it will launch an instant messaging service called Instagram Direct, which will allow users to send a photo or video privately to up to 15 other users.

As Instagram founder Kevin Systrom put it, "Many times a user wants to share something, not with everyone, but with a specific group of other users."

The upgrade of the Instagram application, which belongs to Facebook, will include the "direct" button that users will use to use this service. The "send to 1" option to send a photo or video to a single other user will be included.

Instagram users can not send messages like users of other social media, but only photos and videos.
