On Monday, the actor visited an active minefield, which was located by the United Nations. He also visited another field where there was previously a minefield which had been cleared.

Having been involved in shooting in Cambodia, the minefield was familiar to Craig as Cambodia is one of the countries that had been heavily mined. He was also surprised that workers from Cambodia offered their expertise and assisted in the demining of the United Nations.

"The choice of Cyprus as the first stop of the mission for Ambassador Craig by the United Nations, at a time when demining is a positive step in the peace process is becoming important. "His visit draws the attention of the United Nations to their long-standing desire to achieve a minefield-free Cyprus for all," said Elizabeth Battenheim, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Cyprus.
