The doors of churches, temples and monasteries opened early in the morning to welcome the faithful who have stayed away from their religious duties for the last month and a half, due to the prohibition measures imposed to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.
In the historic church of Panagia Faneromeni in Nicosia within the walls, many people came to light a candle and worship the holy icons, as during the first phase of lifting the restrictive rules, individual prayer is allowed.
At the same time, members of the Ecclesiastical committees began to accept the written requests of the faithful for prayers, celebrations and memorial services that will be performed in the Divine Liturgies of the coming days, in the presence of no more than ten believers.
For their part, the members of the church committees and those responsible for the landscaping of the church, started work early on to clean the exterior and interior of the church. Doors and windows are cleaned with the help of the necessary equipment, the candles were placed again on the benches and the manuals were lit for those who want to cross the threshold of the holy temples.
