In three months at the most, the team that has been working for many years to create a prototype car - currently called "Korres Project 4", after its creator - will have completed a job that seems unbelievable for two reasons. First, because this car can reach more inaccessible places than any other. Secondly, because all the work was done in Greece, where not only is there no basis and history in this kind of production, but also that - as it turned out and discourages any ambitious or strange from fighting to create something new."It all started as a hobby, many years ago, back in the beginning of the last decade", says Mr. Manos Bordonarakis, specialized in special constructions and a member of the team. "This is one of those bets you make with yourself" and this was a bet that Dimitris Korres, better known as an architect, made with himself. "The goal was to build a car with the precision of a Mini Cooper on the road and the stability of a Decevo on the ground." The original number 1 was a patchwork of patents and patents, but also with many weaknesses. This caught the attention of the Greek company MEVAKO, which proposed that the car go into production, and with its own assistance, a second improved model was completed in 2004, but which could not go into production.
"For his own reasons, Korres did not give up. It was charged everywhere and the third prototype started, which we thought would go into production ". But even that was not ready, since serious issues arose. Thus began the fourth version, which we believe is perfected. With each new model, the car grows, from 1.000 cubic meters, the first has now reached 7.000. "The reason is that we are discovering how the suspensions can bring this horsepower to the road. And after that we realize that it is not possible to build a cheap car. It may sound like an oxymoron, but it would require a huge infrastructure that only an organized company can have.
The main innovation of the car is the suspension, which does not allow the wheels to lift off the ground. So the car climbs incredible obstacles and you do not understand it. Also, the special suspension of the car allows for different ways of driving in completely different environments. So that there is the option for fast driving, and with the same tires for terrible climbing on stairs or even stands. And all this in a 1.600 kg car, with a top speed of around 300 km and an acceleration of 0-100 in about 3,8 seconds. "The car is a beast, but the sense of security and stability is unique," says Mr Bordonarakis.
Each time a model was completed, a video was presented at an exhibition abroad. And his special abilities did not go unnoticed. "Already from the second model there was a proposal from a military industry in Abu Dhabi, to make production there, in a military type unmanned vehicle. And the second serious proposal was again from the military industry. However, this was not something that directly interested those involved in this effort. The team continued and is completing the "Korres Project 4" in Greece and will soon present it. But when it hits the market it will not be for all wallets, the price of one could reach up to 250.000 euros.
