Authorities in Afghanistan have ended their search for survivors of a magnitude 6,1 earthquake in the early hours of Wednesday that killed more than 1.000 people, a senior official said today.
About 10.000 homes were partially or completely destroyed by the quake in a remote part of the country, Mohammad Nasim Hakani, a spokesman for the Disaster Management Ministry, told Reuters.
It is the deadliest earthquake to hit Afghanistan in 20 years.
Η EU will allocate 1 million euros in humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, after the deadly earthquake that hit the country.
The EU funding will come from humanitarian groups operating in the country, including non-governmental organizations and the United Nations, the European Commission's humanitarian aid department said in a statement on Thursday.
