It's the great moment that Philip Frouley, a grandfather of four, is retiring from the Royal Australian Air Force, which he served for more than 49 years.
Frouley, 66, head of the RAAF Aircraft Squadron, flew for the last time last month.
"It's a special day but everything comes to an end someday. This is happening to me today. "It was amazing, just amazing," he told the media.
Froley made history as the oldest man in the world to remain an active fighter pilot. The record was held by a 60-year-old Israeli who flew an F-16 fighter.
It completed 10.000 hours of flight, 6,000 of which were with fighter jets. He served in Saudi Arabia, among others, and flew aircraft such as the Hercules transport, the Mirage, Macchis and the F / A-18 Hornets.
